interview by Michael McCarthy Lucy Spraggan hails from the UK and she’s one of the most talented songwriters I’ve ever come to know. In all honesty, her lyrics are brilliant and I can’t think of another artist whose lyrics I like more. She’s truly gifted in that department, her songs often telling stories about real…

It’s no secret that singer/songwriter Doe Paoro is one of my favorite artists. If you frequent this site, you undoubtedly know that I regularly interview her. So, it should come as no surprise that I’m in love with her cover of the Stevie Nicks’ classic “Silver Springs.”

New York-based band The Cringe is one of my favorite musical discoveries this year. But I’ll be honest with you — I am totally late to the party on this one.

The delicious and highly potent “Moonshine” is the third track to be released from Lamb’s The Secret Of Letting Go, which will be out on April 26th, and it’s certainly something new from the duo.

Today Chlöe Howl, one of our favorite UK pop singers, releases her new single, “Millionaire.” It’s a song that’s full of hard, punchy beats, flourishes of guitar and an air of trap music with its occasional hi-hats stuttering along.

“Kiev” is the second single from Vanessa Paradis’ 7th studio album, Les Sources. It’s my favorite song from the album, which is a bit of a departure for Paradis as it’s her first album that really has more to do with telling stories and l’amour than it does with being catchy.

New York-based Car Astor’s “Don’t Stop, Don’t Speak” is certainly one of the most unique songs to come our way of late. It’s essentially a pop song at its core, but the instrument that drives the track is bass guitar and we’re not talking about a smooth bass line like so many pop songs have.

“I don’t need a smile to be enjoying myself,” sings South African-born, Berlin-based, indie-songstress Alice Phoebe Lou with an air of melancholy on “Skin Crawl,” today’s song of the day.

Critically-acclaimed UK pianist-singer-songwriter Phildel’s new single “Electric Heights” hails from her upcoming third album, Wave Your Flags, which is due out on 3/22, and we’ve been listening to it several times a day since discovering it last week.

Robbie Williams seems to be juggling three careers these days. There’s the mega pop star who last released the album Heavy Entertainment Show in 2016. There’s the swing and jazz star who last released Swings Both Ways in 2013. And there’s the “b-sides” star who’ll be releasing the third volume in his Under the Radar…

Buckcherry’s new album Warpaint isn’t out until March 8th, but they’ve already blessed us with the first single, a kick-ass rendition of Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like A Hole,” which happens to be my all-time favorite Nine Inch Nails song. Meanwhile, Buckcherry is one of my favorite hard rock bands of all-time.

Do you like to listen to music when you draw? Or when you chill out? Or go to bed at night? If any of these things appeal to you then you should adore Kid Koala’s ambient “Allotropic,” one of the wonderous instrumental songs from his Music to Draw To: io album

Tony Harnell and Magnus Karlsson have done it again. “How Many More Goodbyes” is easily as brilliant as “Pure Evil,” the first single from their forthcoming album, Dysphoria.

As a child of original UK reggae, a student of sound system culture, and a brave innovator on the frontline of the jungle/drum ‘n’ bass revival, DJ and producer Shy FX has his finger pressed firmly on the pulse of today’s British urban music scene. And that of the rest of the world as well. I…

Doe Paoro’s Soft Power album is her generation’s answer to Carole King’s Tapestry. Heartfelt, earnest singer-songwriter tunes with thought-provoking and insightful lyrics made with real instruments, including lots of smooth piano. All decorated with a wide variety of influences. For example, “Over” has a distinct Motown vibe while other tracks, like “Guilty” and “Cage of…
