by Michael McCarthy I will write a proper review of this album soon, but I wanted to share some of my initial thoughts because I was mighty impressed and the album comes out today. Halsey’s new album is out today. It’s called The Great Impersonator and it’s truly brilliant. This is her fifth album. I…

review by Michael McCarthy Today’s #albumoftheday is Madonna’s criminally under-rated 2003 album American Life. Depending on when you ask me, it may be my favorite or second favorite Madonna album. It’s impossible to choose between American Life and Like A Virgin. I’m a big fan of electronic pop music, which is probably why I love…

Television is the third album by the Italian sister duo Paola & Chiara. Their first album was pop rock and the second was more of a proper rock album, though a catchy and colorful one at that. However, Television is nothing like their first two records except for the fact that it’s the same two…

If you like twisted, noir electro-pop then you’re going to be drooling all over yourself listening to Laure Shang’s richly-layered new single, which is surely the bleakest-sounding song called “I Love You” ever written. It’s also my favorite song to be released so far from her next album. (They just keep getting better and better,…

The thing that makes Laure Shang one of my favorite Chinese artists is that you never know what she’s going to do next. You really don’t. In fact, I dare say she’s one of the most unpredictable artists on the planet, which, for me, also makes her one of the most fascinating artists, too. At some…

If you’ll allow me to pat myself on the back for a moment, I’d like to point out that Love is Pop was one of the very first sites to post Sigrid’s “Don’t Kill My Vibe,” which wound up being one of the biggest pop songs of the decade. So, now I’m here to tell…
