White Sea is an enigma. “Stay Young, Get Stoned” is your new mantra. Understood? OK, so you don’t have to get stoned to enjoy this track, but it probably helps. And, stoned or sober, it should help you feel young with its au courant electro-sound that sparkles and radiates like warm summer sunshine on a…

I don’t think there was anyone on the planet who didn’t love CHVRCHES debut album, The Bones Of What You Believe. If there was, well, clearly they have bad taste. If there was one album from 2013 that was universally loved, it was that one. After all, it was electronic enough to please the electro-pop…

Yes, it’s true — Lana Del Rey has posted her brand new song, “Honeymoon,” on Youtube. It’s presumably from her next album (rumor has it, it’s the title track), and it’s fabulous! Everyone had been saying that her next album would be like Born To Die Volume 2, that it was supposed to be full…

This is one of my favorite Moby songs and I adore Skylar Grey but her vocals are too far back in the mix here… Otherwise, I would’ve made it song of the day.

St. Vincent performs a brand new, super trippy song called “Everyone You Know Will Go Away” at David Byrne’s Contemporary Color Brooklyn performance last weekend.

“Wildfire” is the second single from Laura Burhenn, aka The Mynabirds, upcoming third album Lovers Know and it’s an infectious little ditty if ever there was one. Often, The Mynabirds music features politically-themed, or otherwise serious, subject matter. But this passionate, uptempo love song shows Burhenn’s lighter side, which I found refreshing.

Welcome back, Class Actress! What an amazing tune! Pure electropop bliss. Lovely mix of warm electronic beats and glimmering synth. And the vocals… Sweet and sultry, ripened to perfection… The girlfriend experience has never sounded better!

Over the course of Florence + The Machine’s third album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, she mentions the Virgin Mary, Persephone, Motown’s Delilah, Jonah and St. Jude, but Catholicism and mythology are very small influences compared to the worst thing in the world, which is what the album is truly about: heartbreak. Rather than…

Melanie Martinez, one of my favorites from The Voice, unleashes her creativity upon the world with her new song and video, “Pity Party,” which includes an interpolation of “It’s My Party And I’ll Cry If I Want To” — or whatever that oldie is called.

On the off chance that someone reading this isn’t already aware, Brandon Flowers is The Killers’ lead vocalist, who also plays guitar and keyboards, although not on every song. With the band, he’s released four original albums (Hot Fuss, Sam’s Town, Day & Age and Battle Born), a rarities compilation (Sawdust) and a live album…

“I’m a fool for / I’m a fool for you,” sings Ryn Weaver during the chorus of her spectacular new single “The Fool.” As the chorus goes on, and she sings it over and over again, she hits higher and higher notes, eventually reaching so high she could put vintage Mariah Carey to shame. And…

Róisín Murphy has been one of the most peculiar figures in modern pop music for several years now. She started off as the frontwoman of Moloko, but soldiered on as a solo artist after the band called it a day. During the next few years, she released two excellent solo albums, Ruby Blue and Overpowered,…

In 2013 Eliza Hull released a critically acclaimed EP called The Ghosts You Never Catch. The lead track “Christopher” appeared on MTV’s Awkward — the funniest show on television — and she proceeded to tour with the likes of Owl Eyes, Hayden Calnin and SAFIA. She spent 2014 writing the songs that appear on The…

Oh, this is a good one… As he always does, Monsieur Adi has created a remix that feels so natural you’d swear it was the original album version of the song and those tend to be my favorite remixes. I also appreciate the fact that it’s not so much a dance remix as just a…
