Lee Soo Young was one of the first K-Pop artists I ever became a fan of. In fact, her gorgeous ballad “I Believe” was the very first video I saw on Music Video Heaven, this Korean music video show that used to be on the International Channel years ago, long before the days of MNET. I just happened upon it at random and was blown away by how powerful — how emotional — the song was. It’s still one of my all-time favorite ballads. And, speaking of ballads, Lee Soo Young is called the “ballad queen” in Korea because she always does the best ballads and has subsequently had so many hits that were ballads. Her new single, “Love in Memory 2” is from a movie soundtrack and that’s a bit from the film that you see at the beginning. That seems really cheesy, but I assure you it’s worth suffering through to hear Lee’s beautiful song. She has such an emotive voice and the music is wonderful, too.
