“We’re never-ending,” sings the always impressive singer/songwriter Doe Paoro as the chorus of her inspiring new song “Midnight Choir” comes to its finish, her voice sounding like that of an angel singing to us from up above the clouds.
I know I have a tendency to say that an artist’s latest single is their best one to date too often, but in this case, I really think that’s true. As more time passes, Doe’s lyrics deepen in both their meaning and beauty and I feel like “Midnight Choir” is another brave leap forward for her.
If anyone in her generation deserves to be called the next Stevie Nicks, it’s certainly Doe. Her music is as unique and intriguing as Stevie’s best solo work and often falls in a similar vein.
Even if you have a limited imagination, you have to admit that it’s easy to hear Stevie covering this song. To that end, I would love to hear them pair up. Perhaps they could co-write something for Stevie’s next album? Or Doe’s next album? Better yet, I’d love to see them write two songs together, both duets, one for Doe’s album and one for Stevie’s. That would be so amazing, wouldn’t it?
