#songoftheday = ADAM JENSEN: “DRUGS”

“She moves in black and white / Singing me silent lullabies,” sings Adam Jensen on his wicked infectious new single, “Drugs.”  (I say wicked because he’s from Boston and that’s the area we hail from, too!)  It could be a love song, but as you could guess from the title it could also be about being addicted to drugs — or anything, really — not just obsessive love.  Suffice to say, anyone should be able to relate to it, even if you’re only addicted to caffeine or chocolate.  When I interviewed Adam he told me he hears punk rock in his music and that’s more understandable after hearing this one, given it’s uptempo, guitar-fueled verses.  The chorus is pure synth pop though.  Ultra-shiny, vibrant synth pop.  Meanwhile, the breaks are electro-pop at its finest.  It’s quite the genre-bender, refusing to fit in any mold, something it has in common with Adam’s other fine singles.  Listen to it and get hooked!
