Ella Eyre is one of my favorite new artists and her latest song/video is just another reason to love her. “We all get hurt / Just take the pain and let the motherfucker burn,” she sings soulfully, pouring her heart out. Some artists might seem like they’re trying too hard to get attention with a lyric like that, like they’re trying to spark up a bit of controversy. Not so with Ella. She’s an original and she doesn’t pull punches, two things she has in common with the late Amy Winehouse, whose popularity I suspect Ella will match in the not so distant future.
