Although the song is from her self-titled debut, and not her new album Fire Within, Birdy has at long last made a video for her haunting cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love.”  “Skinny Love” appears on her new U.S. EP, Breathe, which is out now (details below).  The video was directed by Sophie Muller, who’s worked with Rihanna, Beyoncé and Lana Del Rey, among others.  It was filmed at The Hope & Anchor Pub in Islington, UK.  It’s almost as beautiful as the song itself, focusing on Birdy and her piano.

The Breathe EP paves the way for the U.S. release of Birdy’s second album, Fire Within, which will finally be released in the States later this year.  While she covered many famous artists on her debut album, she actually wrote songs with them for Breathe, working with Ariel Rechtshaid (Vampire Weekend, Chari XCX), Rich Costey (Foster The People, Muse) Jim Abiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys) and Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett.

Birdy will spend the spring on tour with Christina Perri.
