Kacey’s new album, Pageant Material, is absolutely fabulous. My favorite country album so far this year, easily. Great melodies, sharp hooks, endearing lyrics and her wonderful, wonderful voice — it’s a winner all around! A perfect mix of old school country storytelling and modern country pop. But it’s not that plastic, paint-by-numbers country pop that most country stars are doing these days. Her music feels much more original and authentic; you’re truly touched by the lyrics as she sings them, her voice beaming with a full spectrum of emotions. She’s sure to have a long career and will be playing arenas by this time next year — mark my words!
