#songoftheday / VIDEO: Jessie J – “Flashlight” (from Pitch Perfect 2)

Everybody loves a cheesy bubblegum pop ballad once in a while, right?  Well, if so, then you’ll be tickled pink by Jessie J’s joyous song “Flash Light,” which is from the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack.  Although you might find it a little too similar to Beyonce’s “Halo” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone.”  Not sure who wrote this one though; the two tracks I just named were written by David Tedder.  Anyway, I’m not necessarily saying this is a direct rip off of those songs, but toward the end when there are some boisterous beats it does at least briefly sound  like it.  But, hey, “Flashlight” is a pleasant if not entirely uplifting song and we need more ballads like that.  And, as usual, Jessie J’s vocals are lovely.  So, do try to enjoy it!
