“I Love You (But I Hate Your Friends)” finds Neon Trees toning down their rock sound in favor of funked up pop. And the result is downright irresistible. “I never wanted you for just a fling,” sings Tyler Glenn and he sounds like he’s having a blast, making the fun song one blissful earworm. The tempo is a bit slower than the average Neon Trees song, but, fortunately, that doesn’t make it any less arresting.
