#songoftheday / VIDEO: Kiesza – “Stronger” (From Finding Neverland The Album)

Often times when artists do positive anthems like this they come across as all too cheesy.  But Kiesza’s new single “Stronger,” which hails from the Finding Neverland: The Album release, is empowering without tasting saccharine at all, coming across more like Florence + The Machine’s “Shake It Out” than Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.”  Not that I dislike Taylor’s song.  I just happen to enjoy Florence’s song more.  Also, there’s no denying that Florence’s song is the more serious of the two.  In any case, Kiesza has done plenty of music that’s super cheesy and not half as good as anything on Taylor’s pop album 1989.  Absolutely.  But this song is a potent beast with huge dream beats and positive lyrics. “I am stronger / I feel taller / So Much higher,” Kiesza says and, I suspect, thousands will fist pump — or sing — along.
