Heems, aka Himanshu Suri, proves he’s still uber-talented post Das Racist on his new solo album Eat Pray Thug, from which the upbeat and contagious “Sometimes” is his latest single.  It’s no surprise that Heems is brilliant on his own, of course, as he released two excellent mixtapes while Das Racist was still active, Nehru Jackets and Wild Water Kingdom.  But Eat Pray Thug is arguably his best work to date and it proves that, although his songs can be comical, he can compete with the best of them.  He’s so talented, in fact, that he also wrote and directed the video for “Sometimes.”  I’m thinking he intends for the video to be comical, as it would seem pretty racist if you actually took it seriously.  Not that I could understand anyone taking it seriously; he’s obviously kidding around.  But if you’re easily offended, you might not want to watch there.  There’s quite a bit of swearing, too, so if that offends you, well, beware.  The rest of us will be laughing our asses off while swaying to his lyrical flow and the snappy beats.
