#songoftheday / REVIEW: CIMORELLI: “YOU’RE WORTH IT”

Typically, our #songoftheday is selected from newly released singles, but once in a while we fall in love with something that we missed the first time around.  So, we figure better late than never and cover i t anyway.  Such is the case with last November’s “You’re Worth It” by Cimorelli.  Not only is it a catchy pop song, it speaks out against eating disorders, something we feel very strongly about, myself in particular, having been anorexic twice in my lifetime.  To that end, “You’re Worth It” does a very good job of expressing the thought patterns that people with eating disorders tend to find themselves trapped in.  Meanwhile, the song attempts to fight off said thought patterns and does a pretty good job of it at that.  I wish there was a song like this around when I was struggling with anorexia.
