#songoftheday / REVIEW: Wannabe Jalva: “MAINLINE”

File this one under insanely good…   There are so many things happening at once during this track, yet it totally works.  The first thing you notice are the guitars, which almost have a surf rock vibe to them, like Dick Dale and the Deltones, then you notice the throbbing, rapid-fire beats which sounds like they’re destined for the clubs.  And the chorus sounds like a cross between The Doors and Iron Butterfly with a totally smooth, retro groove.  It’s all quite delicious and makes ya feel all kinds of swirly inside.

The band is originally from Brazil and has played alongside Pearl Jam and Vampire Weekend.  “Mainline”  was mastered by Brian Lucey,  who worked on the Black Keys’ Brothers and El Camino.
