#songoftheday / REVIEW: TEXAS: “START A FAMILY” + TEXAS NEW ALBUM NEWS

Texas has always had a knack for concocting songs with killer hooks and razor sharp lyrics and they continue to excel in both departments on their new single, “Start A Family.”  “No one knows you better than me,” sings Sharleen Spiteri, almost like she’s making a threat, her voice soulful and arresting.  It’s one of those songs that burrow deep inside of your heart where they slowly radiate from there out into the rest of your body, making you tingle, the hairs on your arms standing up.  It’s touching, to say the least.

Here’s the press release for Texas 25, a new album that will feature new songs along with re-workings of several classics:

Scottish favorites TEXAS celebrate their 25th Anniversary in style with the release of their latest album Texas 25 which celebrates the very best of the multi-platinum, Ivor Novello Award winning band. Texas 25 contains four brand new songs and highlights from the band’s greatest hits completely re-recorded and re-worked for 2015 with acclaimed NYC soul outfit Truth & Soul (Amy Winehouse, Adele). Recorded in Truth & Soul’s Queens, NY studio and mixed at Dan Auerbach’s Nashville studios, working on ‘Texas 25’ was a chance for Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri and band mate Johnny McElhone to hear fan favorites such as Black Eyed Boy, Halo, I Don’t Want a Lover, Say What You Want, Summer Son, and The Conversation with new ears. “It’s almost like we’ve got who we are, 25 years later,” says Sharleen. Known for their Americana-tinged blue-eyed soul shot through the prism of British pop music, Texas have endured over three decades despite changing trends, with 30 million global album sales to their credit.

TEXAS 25 comes in a range of formats including a 12-track jewel case CD, Deluxe 2xCD digipak and 180g Red Vinyl. CD #2 of the deluxe edition contains all of the original 12 hits.
