#songoftheday / REVIEW: LACUNA COIL – “I Forgive (But I Won’t Forget Your Name)”
Back in March I reviewed Lacuna Coil’s superb new album, Broken Crown Halo, but I didn’t say much about this song, “I Forgive (But I Won’t Forget Your Name),” for the simple reason that I’d already written so much about other songs on the album that first caught my ear. But that doesn’t mean that I’m not in love with this song. On the contrary, it’s become one of my favorite tracks as I’ve continued listening to the album. It just overflows with so much passion that it’s impossible not to be captivated by it. It’s sung with enough blood-thirsty intensity that it knocks you off of your proverbial feet. While the title might imply a certain degree of forgiveness, the fact of the matter is that Cristina sings, “I want to see you pay” and she certainly sounds like she means it. So, the next time you’re feeling scorned and hoping that karma catches up with someone who’s wronged you, this is the perfect soundtrack for your anger.
