Well, we’re not getting a new Kylie Minogue album this year — so far as we know — but we’re getting plenty of singles. First came the luscious Giorgio Moroder collaberation, “Right Here, Right Now.” Then came “The Other Boys,” her brilliant NERVO collaboration also featuring Jake Shears and Nile Rodgers. Now we have the strange yet satisfying solo track “Absolutely Anything and Anything At All,” which comes from the soundtrack of the new sci-fi movie Absolutely Anything, which hits UK cinemas next Friday on August 14th. Guess you could call this phase of her career the Productive Kylie phase. Or maybe Collaborative Kylie would be a better fit. In any case, prepare yourself for one bizarre video, which takes place on an alien spaceship of some sort. The song packs mammoth beats and is quite lovely with a dash of a ’60’s girl group vibe, but unfortunately the aliens interrupt the song for some unnecessary gibberish. And boy are these ugly-looking aliens. It’s like someone took some toy alien figures from the ’70’s and put them in the microwave for 40 seconds and this is what they wound up with. Hard to believe anybody would waste their time making these things. Then again, maybe they just look so bad because they’re in the spaceship with Kylie, arguably one of the most beautiful earthlings ever? After all, who wouldn’t look bad next to Kylie? It’s worth sitting through the video so you can hear the fabulous song though, that much is for sure!
