#songoftheday / REVIEW: Calvin Harris & Disciples – “plagiarizeHow Deep Is Your Love”

No, it’s not a Bee Gees cover…  It’s an original club banger by Calvin Harris featuring Disciples.  To be honest, this is the first time I’ve ever heard the Disciples, so I don’t know if the singer simply lent her voice to this track or if there’s a producer in the group — or are they a duo? — who co-produced this with Harris or what.  But I can say that it has a different feel than a lot of Harris’ other recent output, as it features a strong ’90’s sound both in terms of the beats and the vocal melody.   To that end, somehow this retro vibe gives the tune added depth and originality, whereas Harris has started to sound like he’s plagiarizing himself on some of his recent output.  Cheers to that.
