#songoftheday / REVIEW: BOMBUS: “REPEAT UNTIL DEATH”

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Bombus, having given their previous album — The Poet and The Parot — a very positive review.  I also interviewed Feffe, one of the co-lead vocalists and guitarists (along with Matte, who also sings lead vocals and plays guitar).  So, I had a pretty good idea that I was going to like this.  But I was blown away.  On their debut they were like a cross between death metal and thrash, if memory serves me correctly, but their new single “Repeat Until Death,” the title track from their forthcoming sophomore effort, just blew me away.  This time around they’ve headed further into thrash territory and I think I like it more than the new Anthrax single.  You’ve got to love “Repeat Until Death” with its crushing guitars that sound both modern and old school and their vicious co-lead vocals (both singers sing everything ensemble).  The rhythm section is tight as well, drums blasting away.  If Headbangers Ball was still a thing, this would be on heavy rotation.  Hopefully, it’ll get a lot of airplay on Satellite radio and streaming services and help make Bombus one of the most widely known thrash bands on the planet.  They are certainly ready to be recognized.  I mean, if their entire new album is even half as good as this song then we’re talking about a potential album of the year.  Now, listen to “Repeat Until Death” and bang your head old school style.  Just don’t do it to death.

You can already pre-order the Repeat Until Death  digital album at iTunes and Amazon and get “Repeat Until Death” as an Instant Grat track. A second track will be available early next year.
The new opus, “Repeat Until Death”, was mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, etc.). The Artwork was created by Ulf Lundén.
