“There was money in my pocket / Shoes on my feet / But I always felt like the one black sheep,” goes part of the chorus of Mat Kearney’s latest single, “One Black Sheep,” which is a punchy, highly addictive pop song. Maybe the lyrics don’t sound so positive, but the song sounds entirely upbeat and it’s fun to sing-along to — trust me! Besides, everyone finds themselves thinking “won’t somebody tell me what’s wrong with me” at least once in a while, so it’s easy to relate to. I think you’ll especially like this if you’re a fan of Train. Mat has a similar style of speak-singing, which he does during the verses here. Every so often it sounds like he’s rapping and there’s definitely a hip-hop influence there. If you’ve never heard Mat before, you’re in for a veritable treat, as he’s one of today’s best pop singer/songwriters out there.
