review by Michael McCarthy
Just finished watching season two of Gyeongseong Creature. There were times when I found it a bit confusing because sometimes it felt like it was in the middle of an important scene and then it would just cut to another scene and you didn’t get to see how the scene that seemed so important actually ended. On some level, it was kind of poetic and mysterious and beautiful like that but it also leaves you wondering about certain things, especially at the end.
It was kind of unusual because most of it actually takes place in the present in 2024, whereas the entire first season took place in 1945 if memory serves me correctly. This season does have some scenes in 1945 but it’s mostly in the present. I’m not sure how I feel about them setting it in present day. It makes you wonder what the characters were doing for the past 89 years in between seasons and it doesn’t really explain that very well. Still, it’s very well done and the acting is terrific again so I would highly recommend it. I can’t imagine anyone who loved the first season not loving this one.
Stay tuned after the credits because there’s more to see and it leaves one hoping that there will be a third season.
Gyeongseong Creature seasons one and two are available on Netflix.
