“Jaded” concludes the story told in Disclosure’s last two videos, “Holding On” featuring Gregory Porter and “Omen” featuring Sam Smith.  The three videos are said to merge to portray a dystopian story concerning the lead character, Mariella.  In this part, she’s forced to undergo hypnosis against her will.  And, yes, there’s a cameo from Sam Smith in there.  But he didn’t sing the song.  In fact, we couldn’t find anything stating that anyone features on this song, so apparently one half of the Disclosure duo handled vocals himself.  And they’re surprisingly good.  In fact, this is our favorite song from the duo’s upcoming album, Caracal, released so far, and that’s largely due to the strong vocals and how perfectly they mesh with the clubby beats.  Speaking of those beats, they sound much less dubby this time around, much more like throbbing EDM than their usual dub sound.  The beats also sound like real drums this time, giving the song a semi-organic feel that serves it well.  They’ve definitely broken the mold they created on their first album with this.  Here’s hoping other tracks on Caracal are in this vein.

Disclosure have unveiled their new video for ‘Jaded’.

The track is taken from the duo’s second album ‘Caracal’, which is released on September 25.

The new video continues a story told in the duo’s past two videos, ‘Holding On’ featuring Gregory Porter and ‘Omen’ featuring Sam Smith.

Directed by Ryan Hope, the three videos combine to tell a dystopian story featuring lead character Mariella. ‘Jaded’ sees Mariella subject to hypnosis against her will. It also features a cameo from Sam Smith.
