I’ve always required music to sleep. (Music and a loud fan or air conditioner.) When I was younger, I could listen to anything and drift off to sleep. Motley Crue? Absolutely. Iron Maiden? Sure. Seemed like anything could soothe my soul and whisk me away to dreamland. But, unfortunately, as I’ve gotten older I’ve had to stop listening to heavy metal to fall asleep. I’ve also had to stop listening to anything with much of a beat, even cheesy pop. As a result, I’ve made many playlists of mellow, chill-full music during recent years. This is one of my favorites. It’s called Suicide is Painless for the simple reason that it includes three cover versions of the classic song, which is one of my all-time favorites.
