Vocalist Tony Sheridan has died of unknown causes at the age of 72. Sheridan was playing the same clubs as The Beatles in Germany in the early ’60’s and showed them the scene while also turning them onto various American rock ‘n’ roll records. But he was most famous for being the sole non-Beatle to perform as a lead vocalist on a Beatles recording that became a hit single. In addition to a few other tracks, he collaborated with The Beatles in 1961 on his song “My Bonnie” and The Beatles’ song “Ain’t She Sweet.” Both songs were released as singles, though The Beatles track wasn’t released until 1964. In 1962 Polydor released Sheridan’s album, also called My Bonnie, which was re-released in the United Kingdom the same year under the moniker Tony Sheridan and The Beatles after The Beatles became famous.
