NEWS: LILY ALLEN TO COVER KEANE FOR JOHN LEWIS AD

According to The Independent, which cites Music Week, Lily Allen will be recording a cover of Keane’s classic 2004 gem “Somewhere Only We Know” for this year’s John Lewis Christmas TV advertisement, John Lewis being a highly successful chain of department stores in the UK. Last year’s John Lewis Christmas advert song was Gabrielle Aplin’s evocative cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Power of Love.” And it was so cherished that it went straight to the top of the charts, becoming a number one single in the UK.

2010’s John Lewis Christmas TV advert featured Ellie Goulding’s cover of Elton John’s “Your Song,” which rose to number two on the charts.

Annie Lennox and PJ Harvey are said to be among the other artists who were considered for this year’s advert. We’re quite pleased that they went with Lily Allen though, as we’re huge fans of Lily around here. Very much looking forward to her comeback album, which is currently slated for release during March or April of 2014, according to Pop Justice.  She’s reported to be working with producers Naughty Boy and Greg Kurstin, the latter of which produced her last album, 2009’s It’s Not Me, It’s You.
