Tricky fans — like our editor — have a lot to celebrate today. Tricky has just unleashed a brand-new track called “Nicotine Love’” featuring Francesca Belmonte, which you can listen to above (obviously). And it’s quite the song… a throbbing, almost EDM-flavored track that should please club kids as well as his longtime trip-hop fans. We’re listening to it over and over as we post this but would warn you that it may be addictive. (It only makes sense that a song with nicotine in the title would be addictive, right?)
And “Nicotine Love” is not Tricky’s only new track. No, no, no. He’s dropping a brand new full length album, titled Adrian Thaws (his birthname), on September 8th via his False Idols label. “Calling it Adrian Thaws is saying you don’t really know me,” says Tricky of his 11th album. “So many times people have tried to put a finger on me and every album I go to a different place.”
Tricky recorded the new album in his home studio in London and collaborated with Francesca Belmonte, Mykki Blanco, Bella Gotti, Tirzah, Blue Daisy and Oh Land.
“Nicotine Love” is available for immediate download with pre-orders of the album on iTunes.
