LOU REED’S CAUSE OF DEATH CONFIRMED

The New York Times has reported that Lou Reed died at his home on Long Island yesterday on October 27, 2013 from an ailment that stemmed from his recent liver transplant.  They further state that Dr. Charles Miller, who performed Reed’s transplant at the Cleveland Clinic in April, has revealed that Reed was in Ohio again last week for additional treatment. Pollstar quotes Reed’s literary agent, Andrew Wylie, as stating that Reed had been in frail health for months.

When it was determined that Reed’s end-stage liver disease was beyond treatment, the singer/songwriter returned to the home where he resided with his wife, musician Laurie Anderson.  “We all agreed that we did everything we could,” Dr. Miller stated.
