DIANA VICKERS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM SUNDAY. YES, THIS SUNDAY.

Yes, you read that headline correctly — red hot pop diva Diana Vickers will be finally be releasing her sophomore album, Music To Make Boys Cry, this Sunday on the So Recordings label.  At least in the UK.  But you can order the CD from her online store anywhere in the world and it’s currently only £9.99 and, best of all, it comes with a signed photo!  But if you’d rather download the album, you can pre-order it from iTunes UK now.  Or you could buy the CD or a download from Amazon UK.

Of course, some of you are probably wondering, who the hell is Diana Vickers?  Well, she might not have had a major breakthrough here in the States like Ellie Goulding did with “Lights,” but in the UK she’s huge.  She was RCA’s highest grossing UK artist in 2010, the year during which her debut album and her first single achieved No.1 status.  As if that’s not impressive enough, both of her tours in support of her debut album, Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree, were completely sold out.  And then, well, I’m not quite sure what happened.  Word around the campfire is that her record label foolishly lost interest in her and gave her the proverbial boot.  Or perhaps they weren’t going to spend any money promoting a new album from her so she asked to be let out of her contract?  Or maybe she had only been signed for one album and the label simply opted not to sign her for a second.  We really don’t know.  All we know is that she found herself without a label and we believe that she finally just decided to make her second album on her own, giving her full creative freedom.  She describes her new album as, “a sophisticated collection of 80s-tinged electro bangers and featherlight, synth-lead love songs. ”

Diana is having a Google Hangout on Monday to promote the album.  Head to her YouTube channel at 7pm on the 16th to watch her answering questions, playing some games and performing some of her favorite tracks from the new album.  She’s also launched a competition at Jamplify where you get the chance to win a signed poster, a signed album, or even the chance to grab a milkshake with her. All you have to do is share the “Music To Make Boys Cry” video.
