If you’ve read my review, you know I’m a big fan of Miguel’s brilliant new album Wildheart. So, it should come as no surprise that his latest single/video, “NWA” featuring Kurupt, is today’s #songoftheday. It’s a downtempo, subtle sort of R&B song — with a cool, unflinching presence — that’s perfect for chilling out or driving around, the latter of which Kurupt does as he delivers his rap verse in the video. On the album, it takes on the feel of a mellow interlude, a break from the rest of the record’s wonderful insanity. On its own, it falls closely enough to mainstream R&B that Miguel might have a considerable hit on his hands. If I’m being entirely honest, I wish he would have made a video for one of the album’s more experimental songs but I can see why he thought something less so would have bigger potential to sell records, which I obviously want him to do so his next album will be just as offbeat and edgy.

This video for “…going to hell” was released outside of the US today. We haven’t been able to watch it because they didn’t bother to make it available here, but I’m posting it so that those of you elsewhere might be able to view it. Honestly, I think they should have just made this his new single worldwide, but that’s just my two cents…
