W.A.S.P., the brainchild of the always controversial vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Blackie Lawless, released the album Reidolized: The Soundtrack to the Crimson Idol on February 2, 2018. The album came with The Crimson Idol movie on DVD and Blu-ray along with six tracks that were intended for the original album The Crimson Idol but didn’t make it for whatever reason(s). The film was a long time coming, as it was made around the time of the album, but was never released until now, making it something of a lost artifact. Like many of the band’s fans, I’m sure, I gave up on ever seeing the movie years ago. I started to wonder if there even was a movie. So, it’s a very nice surprise for it to finally be released. I’m eagerly waiting for my copy to arrive from Amazon right now.
“Doctor Rockter,” which comes with an intriguing lyric video, is the just-released new single from the album and it’s downright pulverizing. Blackie’s voice sounds as strong as ever with just the perfect amount of rasp. Meanwhile, the guitars are thick and pack some serious hooks. The drums? They will leave you feeling like someone is playing them right in front of you, they’re so thunderous and high up in the mix. What you wind up with is sheer heavy metal perfection. Enjoy!
