#songoftheday / REVIEW: BOOTS – “AQUARIA” (Audio) ft. Deradoorian

Boots is fast becoming one of today’s leading producers, especially when it comes to artsy pop.  Most recently, he worked on FKA twig’s M3LL15X, but he’s also worked on high profile albums like Beyoncé’s self-titled album.  Now he’s gearing up to release his debut album, which is entitled AQUARIA and co-produced by Carla Azar and El-P, on November 13th on Columbia Records.  The title track, which is today’s #songoftheday above, features Angel Deradoorian.  It’s two parts trip-hop, one part R&B and one part hip-hop and it all adds up to something amazing.  (We may be off on the ratio, but not the ingredients.)  It’s easily heavy enough to fill the floor at clubs with its sonorous beats, but you could also listen to it when you’re just chilling out and let it take you on a trip.  Either way, it’s the most perfect song we’ve heard all week.

‘Aquaria’ has gotta be one of my favorite albums of the year so far. BOOTS is one talented dude, and I’m glad to see he’s finally making it as a solo act. If you haven’t already listened to “Cure” then you gotta check it out asap: http://bit.ly/Boots-CureVideo
